Take a Second Look

There are times we must take a second look after looking at a picture, even if we were photographers. Take a look at these photographs, and you will know why. At first glance you might not see what is truly going on in these pictures, but after looking a little closer you will see how a cool illusion was created. You might have seen most of these illusions earlier but it’s still an amazing collection. Sometimes you take a picture without realising what is in the background because you are too busy focusing on your subject. Check out these oldies but goodies. Enjoy.

Molotov Cocktail as an Art Form

The walls of an abandoned WWII hospital in Yekaterinburg in Russia are now full of amazing portrait installations. They are a bit blurry but that’s because they have been burnt with the Molotov cocktails, also know as the petrol bomb; basically a glass bottle filled with gasoline and a burning cloth on top. These huge portraits are of fallen WWII soldiers, and they’re made from white bandages. A group of young artist has made them and put up on walls before they hit them with Molotov cocktails, and the effect it gets is amazing; they call the installation “Eternal Flame”. Truly a great and urban way to honor the fallen soldiers. Speaking of urban art, the street artist MTO has made some amazing graffiti portraits.

Amazing Rock Balancing

In what must be an incredible show of patience and preciseness, there are people in this weird world we all share that make a practice of balancing seemingly implacable rocks on top of each other. The result is surreal and quiet beautiful… if for nothing more than its apparent impossibility. Rock balancing is an art, discipline, or hobby depending upon the intent of the practitioner, in which rocks are balanced on top of one another in various positions. Rock balancing can be a performance art, a spectacle, or a devotion, depending upon the interpretation by its audience. Essentially, it involves placing some combination of rock or stone in arrangements which require patience and sensitivity to generate, and which appear to be physically impossible while actually being only highly improbable. The rock balancer may work for free or for pay, as an individual or in a group, and their intents and the audiences’ interpretations may vary given the situation or the venue.

Amazing Eight Bit Fashion

Ever wish you could live in an old 8-bit Nintendo game? Japanese fashion designed Kunihiko Morinaga is bringing that dream one step close to reality with his new computer graphic-inspired fall collection. The collection features pixelated outfits, that much like 8-bit graphics look normal from afar, but blocky when you get close up to them. We were shown different iconic painting from the early 1900′s and were told to recreate the look. Amazing how art can be reflected in our lives on a day to day basis. Life and our surroundings are art in themselves – God’s beautiful masterpiece! Art goes hand in hand with my work as a makeup artist because modes of expressions and feelings must be created in order for the viewers to appreciate them aesthetically. Inemuri – A Japanese Thing

There is very unusual art in Japan. It is called “inemuri”, and it allows people to be asleep and present at the same time. There is no secret that Japan is a workaholic culture. Thus some people have an amazing talent for falling asleep in elevators, on trains and even during meetings. And this talent is admired, because the Japanese think that only slackers can sleep all night long, others should fall asleep out of exhaustion. “Inemuri” still requires following particular rules. You can’t lounge, so you should keep upright while sleeping. And you can’t endanger the social situation. Of course, some people fake “inemuri”. But even when they actually take a nap on the go, they can still maintain their composure. For example, they won’t miss their stop even when being genuinely asleep.
