Amazing Featherless Chickens

I know what you’re thinking when you look upon these butt-ugly birds. Why, God, why would you create such a putrid piece of poultry? Don’t blame God for these foul fowl, but rather the scientists at Israelis Rehovot Agronomy Institute near Tel Aviv who actually created these skinned squabs on purpose! The thinking is that these genetically engineered abominations will be able to withstand warmer temperatures and won’t have to rely on expensive cooling units thus making chicken less expensive and more practical for many third world nations… not to mention that plucking will become much easier. Cute and Evil Exotic Primates

Check out these exotic primates, some of them are cute and some of them are evil. The Pygmy Marmoset is the “storybook-cute” kind. The pygmy marmoset or dwarf monkey is a New World monkey native to the rainforest canopies of western Brazil, southeastern Colombia, eastern Ecuador, eastern Peru, and northern Bolivia. It is one of the smallest primates, and the smallest true monkey, with its body length ranging from 14 to 16 centimeters (5.5 to 6.3 in) (excluding the 15-to-20-centimetre (5.9 to 7.9 in) tail). Nicknames for this monkey often refer to its diminutiveness, for example: mono de bolsillo (“pocket monkey”), leoncito (“little lion”), and finger monkey.

Earth and It’s Tectonic Plates

Plate tectonics is a scientific theory that describes the large scale motions of Earth’s lithosphere. Plate tectonics is a relatively new theory and it wasn’t until the 1960′s that Geologists, with the help of ocean surveys, began to understand what goes on beneath our feet. T

The Earth’s surface is made up of a series of large plates. These plates are in constant motion traveling at a few centimeters per year. The ocean floors are continually moving, spreading from the center and sinking at the edges.

200 million years ago all of the present continents combined to form a single continent called supercontinent Pangea.

It initially split into two pieces. Laurasia – landmasses which today is in the northern hemisphere and Gondwana – landmasses in the southern hemisphere.

Here’s how the Earth looked like in the late Jurassic era, about 150 million years ago.

The Earth looked like this around 94 million years ago, during the late Cretaceous.

The process of tectonic plates movement continues. This is how scientists imagine the future of continent moving.

It is hard to imagine that these great big solid slabs of rock could wander around the globe. Scientists needed a clue as to how the continents drifted. The discovery of the chain of mountains that lie under the oceans was the clue that they were waiting for.

The edges of these plates, where they move against each other, are sites of intense geologic activity, such as earthquakes, volcanoes, and mountain building.

Eyjafjallajökull Volcano

Pictures of the spectacular Icelandic volcano. Incidentally, it’s E-YAH-FEE-YAT-LA-JO-KEY-OAK-COOL. Get it right or you’ll piss it off. Photos by Skarphéðinn Þráinsson and by Marco Fulle. You’ll have to figure out how to pronounce those on your own. Eyjafjallajökull is one of the smaller ice caps of Iceland, situated to the north of Skógar and to the west of Mýrdalsjökull. The ice cap covers the caldera of a volcano with a summit elevation of 1,666 meters (5,466 ft). The volcano has erupted relatively frequently since the last glacial period, most recently in 2010. Eyjafjallajökull consists of a volcano completely covered by an ice cap. The ice cap covers an area of about 100 square kilometers (39 sq mi), feeding many outlet glaciers. The main outlet glaciers are to the north; Gígjökull, flowing into Lónið, and Steinholtsjökull, flowing into Steinholtslón. The glacier is the 6th largest in Iceland. Take a look at this volcano. Severe Winter

Winter is the coldest season of the year in temperate climates, between autumn and spring. At the winter solstice, the days are shortest and the nights are longest, with days lengthening as the season progresses after the solstice. Some authorities attempt to define an astronomical winter, often offset, which is based solely on the position of the Earth in its orbit around the sun. The start of an astronomical winter remains constant in each hemisphere regardless of weather conditions, but varies with culture. Snake Breakfast

They are all stomach and no brains; Snakes will eat anything they can catch and swallow and sometimes, those things are not the typical snake meal. It just goes to prove that snakes, especially non-indigenous ones, can play havoc on an ecosystem in just a limited amount of time – a warning to keep pet snakes locked up and not to just let them go! This Olive Python ate a Maltese terrier named Bindi.

This amethystine python is devouring a sulphur-crested cockatoo.

This is an x-ray of a carpet python after he tried to make a meal out of four golfballs.

This Burmese python ate an electric blanket complete with electrical cords and control box.

When this three meter long carpet python found under a home was x-rayed, vets found a cat’s collar inside. The cat had already been digested.

This 1.8 meter carpet python made a meal out of another cat.

Snow Overload Hits Bosnia

While most of America is missing out on Winter this year due to some rare winds or something, Europe is getting hammered hard as you can see from these pictures of Bosnian capital Sarajevo. Bosnian authorities declared a state of emergency in the capital Sarajevo after it was paralyzed by snow, while hundreds of people remain trapped in their homes and vehicles throughout the country. More than three feet of snow is lying in the city as residents attempted to clear routes to the hospital or simply connect buildings. Heavy snow came unexpected, turning the parked cars into ranges of white humps. Ho ho ho! Honey, have you seen the car? …or grandma?

The usual definition of what a galaxy is: ‘An island universe’, or ‘A vast collection of stars’ is not wrong, but it is misleading. Because of the vast distances that separate stars even in the most densely packed regions of most galaxies, a better definition is: ‘A vast formation of plasma clouds that contain electrical currents and occasional, widely distributed tiny lumped points of matter called nebulae, stars and planets.’ The shape that characterizes most galaxies was first described by Hannes Alfven in 1981. Glass Beach in California

If you were to journey to the place we now know as Glass Beach in 1949, you would have discovered an unrestricted dump on an otherwise marvelous stretch of the ocean front. For some reason, California residents of Fort Bragg thought that the scenic viewpoint was the perfect place to dump all kinds of dangerous stuff
into the ocean from chemicals to abandoned cars to tons and tons of broken glass.

After 1949, the eighteen year-old unrestricted dump was suddenly restricted as, surprise surprise, people found out that it was dangerous but instead of cleaning up the godawful mess, the trash was left to fester and roll in the crashing surf.

Fortunately, mother nature is quite a bit smarter than us when it comes to handling garbage. Over the years, the pounding waves crashed and rolled the broken glass on the beach until eventually, the sharp edges were worn into billions of glass pebbles. People began to rediscover the beach which was now sparkling with rainbow hued sands. When the state of California noticed that people were visiting the site of the dump, they annexed the beach and made it part of MacKerricher State Park. The rusting hulks of old cars and appliances were hauled away and the miraculous testament to nature taking care of mankind’s failure is now a protected area that attracts thousands of visitors a year.

Incredible Starling Air Show

Gretna Green is a Scottish village famous for the bird “air shows”. During the annual migration to wintering in Scotland, European starlings fly (sturnus vulgaris), driven by the frost from their homes in Russia and Scandinavia. Soaring, flocks of these birds, like great black clouds in the sky, forming bizarre shapes. Each year European starlings migrate to wintering in Scotland. Flocks of these birds soar and form bizarre shapes in the sky as if they were dancing. Many come to witness their unusual twists in the air. Scientists are not sure exactly how and why starlings make these celestial dance. Even complex algorithmic models can not explain acrobatic sketches of starlings, which change their direction for the one hundredth milliseconds to avoid a collision, but at the same time and predation. The Friendliest Whale on Earth

These affectionate whales are almost certainly the most friendly in the world. The good-natured seafaring giants will swim right up to human visitors, who can dip their faces into the sea to plant a kiss on the heads of the huge 40-ton sea mammals. The whales love a pat on the head and a rub on their smooth- and sometimes barnacle covered 45 foot-long bodies. Their journey from the Bering Sea in the Arctic – a 20,000km round trip – makes it one of the longest migrations undertaken by any mammal. They set off down the Pacific coast in December and don’t eat again until they return to their northern feeding grounds some five months later. Nature photographer, conservationist and BBC presenter Mark Carwardine accompanies groups of adoring tourists travel from all over the world to play with the families of grey whales who live in their lagoon havens off the west coast of Mexico.

10. A baby grizzly bear weighs only 0.5 kg. When it grows up, it is about 550 kg. Grizzly bears are able to lift 0,8 times their body weight.

9. Ox is able to overpower the weight of 900 kg. It’s twice more than their own weight.

8. Elephants can raise up to 9 tons. It’s 1.7 times the weight of their body.

One Hell of a Snake

In Florida, people saw near their house a huge snake and called the police. Trappers were called later and they were horrified when they saw the monster. As it turned out later, it was a 7 feet 3 inches long giant Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake, now being called Rattzilla. Trappers didn’t have any other choice but to kill the snake. You can see the size of the monster after the jump.

When Cheetah Isn’t Hungry

They can even become friends for a short period of time. Since they don’t hunt during the day and the photo was taken at dusk the Cheetahs in this photo must have just eaten. The baby Antelope is safe this time. They are simply playing with the Antelope, much the same as a domestic cat plays with a toy. However, it is probably better not to think about what happens when the cats get hungry. The next time the prey and the predator meet there will likely be a different outcome.

Walking Sticks

These insects are called the Phasmatodea and there are plenty members of them: stick insects (in Europe), walking sticks or stick-bugs (in the US), ghost insects and leaf insects. The Phasmatodea (sometimes called Phasmida) are an order of insects, whose members are variously known as stick insects (in Europe and Australasia), walking sticks or stick-bugs (in the United States and Canada), phasmids, ghost insects and leaf insects (generally the family Phylliidae). The ordinal name is derived from the Ancient Greek phasma, meaning an apparition or phantom, and refers to the resemblance of many species to sticks or leaves. Their natural camouflage can make them extremely difficult to spot. I wouldn’t like someone makes a joke on me using one of these insects

“big cat” includes the four members of the genus Panthera: the tiger, lion, jaguar, and leopard. Members of this genus are the only cats able to roar. A more expansive definition of “big cat” also includes the cheetah, snow leopard, clouded leopard, and cougar. Despite enormous differences in size, the various species of cat are quite similar in both structure and behavior, with the exception of the cheetah, which is significantly different from any of the big or small cats. All cats are carnivores and efficient predators, in fact they are apex predators. Their range includes the Americas, Africa, Asia, and Europe.

The uterus (from Latin “uterus” (plural uteruses or uteri) or womb is a major female hormone-responsive reproductive sex organ of most mammals including humans. One end, the cervix, opens into the vagina, while the other is connected to one or both fallopian tubes, depending on the species. It is within the uterus that the fetus develops during gestation, usually developing completely in placental mammals such as humans and partially in marsupials such as kangaroos and opossums. Two uteruses usually form initially in a female fetus, and in placental mammals they may partially or completely fuse into a single uterus depending on the species. In many species with two uteruses, only one is functional. Humans and other higher primates such as chimpanzees, along with horses, usually have a single completely fused uterus, although in some individuals the uteruses may not have completely fused. The term uterus is used consistently within the medical and related professions, while the Germanic derived term womb is also common in everyday usage in the English language.

Strange Appearing in Norwegian Sky

Thousands of people witnessed this mysterious spiral in the sky last night in Norway. It was actually spinning. Some people think it’s an UFO, other say it’s a Stargate. Obviously it’s not the Northern Light. My guess was that it’s an experiment by American scientists at the HAARP base. Ten days ago a CERN worker wrote this: The best regards to american scientist who have begun testing Aurora project. But don’t overroast a planet, colleague I hope they won’t. Now it’s almost confirmed that it was the fail launch of new Russian Bulava rocket.

The Mysterious Sailing Stones of Death Valley

The sailing stones (sliding rocks, moving rocks) are a geological phenomenon where rocks move in long tracks along a smooth valley floor without human or animal intervention. They have been recorded and studied in a number of places around Racetrack Playa, Death Valley, where the number and length of travel grooves are notable. The force behind their movement is not understood and is subject to research.
