Israel says ‘no’ to anorexic fashion show models with the “Miss Large” beauty pageant that has finished lately in the town of Beersheva. Only the women who weigh more than 80 kg (176 lbs.) were allowed to participate in it. A plus-sized pageant in Israel that only allows contestants over 176 pounds. In March Israel banned the use of underweight models in advertising, under new legislation, which also forces magazines and papers to make it clear when they have used air-brushing. In an industry that promotes extreme thinness and eating disorders, it’s refreshing to see a beauty pageant that embraces women who are full-figured and fabulous. Mazel tov, ladies!
